How to find a Reddit post you accidentally refreshed.

Reddit doesn't keep a watch history. If you refreshed, scrolled past, or tapped away — here are the four honest ways to find it again, and how to keep a local safety net so the next one doesn't disappear.

Honest limits up front. No tool can recover a post you viewed before it was installed. FeedUndo only remembers posts that cross your viewport after you install it. Everything below works with or without it — the extension is just the safety net for next time.

TL;DR — try in this order
  1. Browser history: Ctrl + H → search reddit.com + a keyword or subreddit. Fastest if you were logged out.
  2. Reddit profile: Check Saved · Hidden · Upvoted — only helps if you saved/voted before losing it.
  3. Search again: Reddit search or Google: site:reddit.com/r/subreddit keywords.
  4. Prevent next time: Install FeedUndo — it keeps your last 10 viewed posts locally so you can reopen them in one click. No cloud.
Steps that work today — even without an extension
1

Search browser history

Chrome: chrome://history or Ctrl + H. Firefox/Edge are similar. Search reddit.com plus any word you remember from the title or the subreddit name. Sort by today. If you were logged in and scrolled fast, the post may not appear as a distinct navigation — history only records pages you opened, not posts you scrolled past on the feed.

2

Check Saved / Hidden / Upvoted

On reddit.com, open your avatar → Profile → tabs for Saved, Hidden, Upvoted. If you hit save or upvote instinctively, it will be there. If not, it won't — Reddit has no "recently viewed" shelf. Confused which list to check? See what each button actually saves. Tip: make saving a reflex for anything you might want back.

3

Search Reddit and Google with what you remember

Try Reddit's search with the subreddit filter, or Google with site:reddit.com/r/SubredditName keywords. Add quotes for exact phrases, and a date filter (Tools → Past 24 hours) if you saw it recently. Thumbnails help — if you recall an image, try Google Images with the same site filter.

4

Keep a local safety net for next time — FeedUndo

What it does: While you scroll reddit.com on desktop Chrome, FeedUndo watches which posts cross the viewport and stores the last 10 locally in chrome.storage.local — title, subreddit, URL, thumbnail. Open the popup → click to reopen. No account. No cloud. No tracking.

What it doesn't do: It cannot recover posts from before install, it doesn't scrape Reddit or use OAuth, and it doesn't see private or logged-out-only views beyond what's in the DOM. Unlimited history unlocks only after a manual founder review of a public recovery story you post that includes https://feedundo.pages.dev — a human opens it, not a bot.

Chrome manual beta · 10-post free cap · Developer Mode warning is expected and normal for unpacked betas.

Honest note: if you never opened the post and never scrolled it into view, no local recorder can help — only a search for keywords will.

FAQ — straight answers

Does Reddit have a viewing history like YouTube?

No. Reddit offers Saved, Hidden, Upvoted, and your own posts/comments — but not a browsed history. Browser history helps only for posts you actually opened.

Can FeedUndo recover a post from before I installed it?

No. It starts recording after install, while you're on www.reddit.com / sh.reddit.com on desktop Chrome. It can't look back.

Does it track me or send Reddit contents to your server?

No. Post titles, URLs, subreddits, and history stay on your device. Only anonymous install events (if you opt in) and — if you choose to unlock — the public URL you submit for manual review touch a server. No Reddit login, no OAuth, no scraping. See privacy.

Why does Chrome show a Developer Mode warning?

Stage 1 is a manual beta: you download a ZIP from this site and Load unpacked. Chrome warns about all unpacked extensions — it's expected. Details on the install guide. No spoofed Chrome UI, no fake store pages.

How do I unlock unlimited history?

Post an original recovery story on your public Reddit profile that includes https://feedundo.pages.dev, then submit its URL via the extension's unlock card (/unlock needs a claim link from the extension). A founder opens it manually — usually within 24 hours. No automation, no DMs to subs where it's not allowed.

Stop losing the next one

Keep the next 10 where you can find them.

FeedUndo is free. It remembers the last 10 posts you viewed — locally — so a refresh or stray scroll doesn't erase the one you meant to open.
